Fifth Annual Season was a Great Success!

The fifth annual Redlands Shakespeare Festival was held
at the Redlands Bowl in Smiley Park, 25 Grant St., Redlands.

May 7 through May 24, 2009

The 2009 Season of Vengeance featured productions
of “The Tempest,” “Hamlet,” and “Measure for Measure.”

Thursday, May 7, 6:30 p.m. - Carey Curtis Smith presents “Magic Behind the Scenes: Special Effects and Spectacle of the English Renaissance theatre”

Thursday, May 14, 6:30 p.m. - Prof. Bruce Golden presents “Hamlet: Wild and Whirling Words”

Thursday, May 21, 6:30 p.m. - Prof. Marilyn Loveless presents “Measure for Measure” by Mrs. Shakespeare?”

Educational Workshop Series

Saturday Educational Workshops are held
at the AK Smiley Library, 125 W. Vine St., Redlands.

Saturday, May 9, 2 p.m. - Stage Combat: featuring a demonstration on hand to hand stage combat and the use of swords for fencing and battle sequences.

Saturday, May 9, 3:30 p.m. - Meet the Leads: featuring festival directors and members of the acting company in an open panel discussion about Shakespearean performance, acting techniques, and character development.

Saturday, May 23, 2 p.m. - The Authorship Question: featuring John M. Shahan, chairman and CEO of the Shakespeare Authorship Coalition; Prof. Marilyn Loveless; and Steven Sabel, founding artistic director of the Redlands Shakespeare Festival, in an open forum discussion about various authorship theories surrounding the Shake-Speare canon.

Saturday, May 23, 3:30 p.m. - Period Costuming: Featuring festival costumers presenting an up-close and personal look at period costumes from the festival, patterns, and sewing techniques
